Looking to Visit the Haunted House?

Maggie McNulty, Staff Writer

This year, the Barnstable High School Drama Club created an entirely original Haunted House experience for both newcomers and those who attend every year. The theme of this year’s haunted house is “Haunted Schoolhouse” and it certainly remained true to it’s theme.

The group I “traveled” through the haunted house with was comprised of middle schoolers who started screaming before our “ghoul” even began our tour. The actors supplied convincing performances that scared both the middle schoolers and the adults with them. Since this year’s haunted house followed a uniform theme throughout the tour, patrons could become fully invested in the storyline, which made the experience even scarier.

For me, one of the most impressive aspects of the haunted house is the set design. The Performing Arts Center is completely transformed into terrifying mazes, haunted classrooms and torture chambers. The hard work by everyone involved is enunciated through the petrified reactions from patrons.

The cohesive theme and chill-inducing performances by the actors helped to make this year’s haunted house come alive. Any thrill-seeking person will thoroughly enjoy this production, which will continue on the 24th, 25th, 29th and 30th of October. Tickets are only $10 and help benefit the Barnstable High School Drama Club.
