Albums

Jennifer Lopez ‘AKA’- June 17

J. Lo is back and better than ever. Her last album, Love?, was a very pop album- most of the featured songs were dance tracks.  This time, Lopez is going back to her roots. R&B.  The Bronx native said the record evokes the same attitude that Jenny From The Block did.  The album features many collaborations with the likes of T.I., Iggy Azalea, and French Montana.  This might be one of Lopez’s most anticipated records yet. It’s not to be missed.

Lana Del Rey ‘Ultraviolence’ -June 17jenni

Lana Del Rey is known for her extremely dark and cinematic sound. The music can be best described as dull but at the same time completely mesmerizing. Her music is always unique to itself, one of the reasons she does sowell. This record is already doing very well, and it hasn’t even come out yet. She has teased three tracks: West Coast, Shades of Cool, and the title track Ultraviolence. Each video on her youtube has at least over two million hits.

Ed Sheeran ‘X’ -June 23

Ed Sheeran’s sophomore album, X (which is actually pronounced multiply), is sought to be an even bigger hit than Sheeran’s first album. When he first came on the scene last year, Sheeran was praised for his softness in his music. Please don’t mistake softness for quietness, because that is not at all the case. He was admired for his tender and quite emotional pieces. X is definitely going to feature that same softness that we have grown to love, but will also be influenced by rap. Sheeran, like on his first album, will be breaking up some of his soft music with quick spitted verses.

Phish ‘Fuego’ -June 24

The long awaited, Fuego, is Phish’s first studio album released in five years. The band has said that this album is most different, because it’s meant to echo the live mentality of their shows. Most of the record was recorded at an Atlantic City soundcheck. Also, the band hired a new producer for this album, Bob Ezrin who produced Pink Floyd’s 1979 album, The Wall. Overall, the album is the same Phish varied genre sound, but more true to a live performance.

Brad Paisley ‘Moonshine in the Trunk’ -August 26

Brad Paisley is back for his tenth album, but its not really what you’re expecting.  Paisley decided to take on a whole new genre for this album. A blend of classic country and EDM is the formality of this new territory for Paisley, or really anyone. EDM, or electric dance music, has come to the forefront of the music industry in the past couple of years. It has been mashed with pop, hip-hop, but not usually country. Paisley describes the record as a ‘fun, party album.’  It will be interesting to see how this newly invented genre works.
