The epic, heartfelt documentary Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, directed by R.J. Cutler, gives Eilish’s fans the most intimate look of her life as a pop star.

This film dropped on Apple TV plus on Feb. 26. I watched this film not knowing anything about Eilish, other than liking her music, and after watching just a few minutes, I now call myself her biggest fan.

After seeing just a sliver of Eilish’s journey, I could tell she has a pure heart and genuinely loves and cares for her fans. In the film, Eilish said, “I don’t think of them as fans, they’re like a part of me.” This was the exact moment when my obsession sparked.

Even though Eilish is a 21-century pop star with 81 million followers on Instagram and 44,427,304 monthly listeners on Spotify, the documentary shows she is still a teenage girl who struggles with common problems like the rest of us.

A portion of the documentary focuses on Eilish and her ex-boyfriend, Brandon Quention Adams. Fans got to see a glimpse of her toxic yet adorable love life with Adams, who is 21, and witness her heartbreak.

As mentioned above, like any teenager, Eilish has a celebrity crush. The film captured her love for Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber. Bieber has always been her favorite artist and Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry showed us just how much she adores him.

Throughout the two-hour and 20-minute film, the viewers also see how she deals with Tourette syndrome. It is crazy to know she is struggling with this tic disorder while being one of the most talented and well-known artists in the world.

Furthermore, the film heavily focused on Eilish and her big brother, Finneas’s special relationship. Finneas, 23, is known for writing and producing for Eilish. The documentary captured how they collaborate and how nicely they interact with each other. They didn’t come off as siblings, more like best friends.

She and her parents are also extremely close. Her close-knit family supports her and Finneas in more ways than one. Eilish said she couldn’t imagine doing what she does without her mother and father.

If you are a fan of Eilish and like her music, you would know that most of her songs are sad and depressing. Eilish in the film talks about why she writes sad lyrics. She said why would she write happy songs because she’s not happy. The audience, including myself, then became aware of her depression.

I am glad that I saw a piece of Eilish’s journey even though I didn’t know a lot about her at first. People got to see her on a much more intimate level than they normally would have and I really enjoyed seeing that side of her. I am very excited to see where things take her in the future and for more of her music.
